Belly button!

Oh my word! What a day!! I’m still looking for house help, so yesterday, I used an app called SweepSouth to ‘order’ a cleaner. It was a mess. She didn’t understand English. So she cleaned where she wasn’t meant to. She didn’t understand when I showed her where her sugar is that she had asked for. (I keep brown sugar in case the helper uses it then she can add to the tea or decaf coffee I provide for them.)

She didn’t look at what I’d noted in the app as needing cleaning -the inside of the fridge-and yet the app charged me a whole extra HOUR to clean it! So I had to ask her to stand up and do it. She’c had multiple breaks. It was embarrassing.

But not as embarrassing as her belly. When she came in, she was wearing an open jacket, and what I thought was a top that had rolled up because of her considerable girth. It happened to me when I wore too small vests and they rolled up my post twin, rib flared out, belly🤷🏾‍♀️. So I looked away, figured she’d realised her stomach was exposed, and looked anywhere but at the tummy till she couldn’t what I believed was clumsiness.

Micaiah COULDN’T. He was tortured. He was almost shaking when he told me he can’t think, he’s uncomfortable because of the lady’s tummy. And she wasn’t even in the same room as he was in at the time. Autistics struggle a lot with what is right and wrong and normal. Never in his life has anyone entered our home with what turned out to be a crop top! She came to work in tight cream pants and a velvety green crop top. Even the tutor was shocked. How is that professional?

My poor boy was in no state to do any school work. I typed this because it seems it’s quite a normal search for us autism moms. Yes, many of our children cannot handle crop tops and exposed bellies. Mine is one of them. He was distraught. So I told them to go for a drive, and then relax and then tutor just keep a watch over them and help with our non speaker as always. The girls weren’t impacted.

On the positive side, as a friend noted, it’s great that he can voice his fears. Haaaa. I just recalled him telling me something extremely inconsequential yesterday. Something about the dog at the playground. Nothing bad, nothing funny. Just..something he thought was important. Besides the multiple attempts to get me to send the helper away before she was down. I asked him why he felt he had to tell me so many things. He said in a questioning, “Because you want to know everything about me..??” Well, what could I say? I gave him a high five and told him he’s correct.

But I really don’t want to discuss his poop texture all the time!

My girl thought she was an amateur comedian yesterday. She -and her two talkative siblings -took far too long to get dressed. Silly dallying, chatting, playing, bumped heads, running up and down to fetch Lego princesses..That’s my norm. It’s frustrating! So I told her if she didn’t hurry up, I’d kick her butt into gear.

We stopped, and laughed at the image. I reassured her, “Don’t worry, I’ll never kick my precious daughter.”

Agreeing, she added, “Especially because I’m autistic!”

Another time I was folding laundry and she says to me after asking my birth story -how I was born. “Look at you! You were pregnant with four children but you actually have six!

You’re weird!”

😉

The weird one is the one who went outside searching high and low, shouting loudly, “Rabbit Blanky, where are you!!?? Where are you??”

As her little sister quipped, “She’s silly. A blanket can’t talk! Maybe she’s trying to ask us where it is.”

Life in Autism Land🥰😅
